Had to write a 300+ English assignment for an English course that im doing at the moment and thought I would share it with you all : )

Something I really like to do in my spare time is read. I enjoy reading many different types of novels, which include general fiction and Manga. Not many people know about manga in western country’s, It came about in the 1800’s in Japan and is very popular in Japan today, Manga constituted an annual 406 billion Japanese yen by 2007, around 3.6 billion US dollars.

Manga is a Japanese comic or graphic novel, that you read right to left instead of left to right. Many Manga’s are based on Anime’s which are Japanese animated shows and films. I have many Manga’s that are based on shows that I have watched, there are usually quite a few books to a series and are always numbered there can be 30 plus Manga books to one Anime show. The art work in Manga is very much like the animated characters in the shows and always very detailed and well drawn. Anime is drawn in much the same artistic style.

There are many Manga cafes in Japan where people drink coffee and read Manga, kind of like Internet cafes in western country’s. It only started to take off and become popular in the US in the early Nineties, It’s also become popular in Europe and the UK now.

I have to buy Manga online from specialist websites as there are not many stores in the UK. I’m hoping that in the future Manga will be more recognised and popular in the UK, so that it will become more widely available and more shops will open up for the demand. One of my favourite Manga’s which I have is called Dears and is based on the Anime of the same name. My hubby has 35 plus Manga books and I love reading then and hope to get many more in the future myself.

I bought 2 more Studio Ghibli films a while ago Kiki’s Delivery Service and Only Yesterday. Really loved Kiki’s Delivery Service. I also watched The Cat Returns which was on Film Four the other day and I want to get the DVD I thought it was a really good film another favorite of mine.

Finally got some dvd’s on order I’ve ordered My Hime episodes 3,4,5,6 to finish the first box which I’ve got and I’ve also ordered My-Otome DVD 1 (Hyb) special edition. Will post pictures when they arrive.

I cant wait to go see this film it looks awsome gonna go watch it as soon as it comes out at the cinema.

Been listening to Jackie Chan a lot lately really want to get some of his albums, really like this song.

Bought a keyboard a while ago and I would love to be able to play this song, better get some practice and lessons when I can.

Bought my hubby a anime dvd the other day called tekkonkinkreet. I thought I’d treat him cause he always buys me things. We both really liked it I thought the animation was really good. It’s about two brothers black and white who live in Treasure Town doing battle with the Yakuza it’s quite brutal in parts too. The films based on the manga by Taiyo Matsumoto.

I was looking to see if there was any dvd’s worth getting and I noticed that negima season 2 was out to buy it comes in two sets with episodes 1-13 in one and 14-to 26 in the other. I really want both at once but I think that I’ll only be able to get one cause there £34 each. I’ll have to ask hubby if he will get it for me I really love that anime one of my favorites

Here is a trailer for the new Queen’s Blade anime it might be a while before I can watch gotta wait until it’s available on dvd and that’s gonna be a while. It looks really good worth a watch me thinks : ) My hubby want’s to see it also but I dont think he wants to watch it for the story you will see what I mean from the trailer : )

Me and my hubby been watching Japan season on bbc 4. There’s been some really good shows I really liked the one about a 15 year old girl learning to be a Geisha in Kyoto. There was also a program about fishing in Japan which I found really interesting cause of my love of fishing. I watched Spirited Away which was on last weekend and there is also a program on that I missed but gonna watch the repeat that’s on tonight at 10pm it’s about a former businessman Naoki and his family who are struggling to get by after the economic crash of the early nineties.
